Shuwei Zuo is a Chinese violinist, currently studying with Leland Chen and have now started the
fellowship with Southbank Sinfonia.
She embarked on her musical journey at the age of 5 and went to a music specialist school when she
was 14 studied with violinist Jia Zhang and Wei Xue. She took part in a tour in Taiwan with China
Youth Symphony Orchestra in 2012. In 2014, she successfully gained a place in the Central
Conservatory of Music study with Liwei Tan. In the same year, she went to New York Summit Festival
and was highly commended by violinist Aaron Rosand, whom she had lessons with.
She moved to the UK to undertake her Master's Degree at the Royal Academy of Music in 2018. She
holds chamber and solo concerts from China to the UK in recent years. From 2014 to 2017, she was
frequently invited by Beijing Youth Art Festival, International string Festival, New York Summit
Festival and many music festivals to give chamber music and solo performances. The performances has
received many excellent reviews.
She also won the first prize in Hummingbird Music Competition with her trio and was invited to hold
a chamber concert in Peking University, Yantai, Wuxi, and many other cities. After coming to the UK
she is continuing her solo and ensemble career, such as trio, quartet and also frequently plays
co-leader or 2nd violin principle in RNCM orchestra, and also offers a lot of solo, trio and quartet
concerts and recordings in York, Leeds, Haslemere, London, Manchester, etc. Received highly praised
